Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) is the entry permit required for most treks in Nepal’s Annapurna region, including popular routes such as Annapurna Base Camp, Ghorepani Poon Hill, Mardi Himal, and the Annapurna Circuit. The Annapurna Conservation Area begins near Pokhara and includes a wide range of trekking routes, from short 3–5 day hikes to longer 3–4 week journeys such as the Annapurna Circuit. The current ACAP fee is NPR 3,000 for foreign nationals and NPR 1,000 for SAARC nationals which is roughly USD 22–23 for foreigners depending on the exchange rate.
Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP)
The Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) is required for trekking in the Manaslu Conservation Area, including the Manaslu Circuit Trek and Tsum Valley Trek. This permit supports conservation, trail maintenance, and local community development in the region. The current permit fee is NPR 3,000 for foreign nationals and NPR 1,000 for SAARC nationals, which is roughly USD 22–23 for foreigners depending on the exchange rate. MCAP is generally required for most Manaslu treks, which usually last from 10 to 18 days.
Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (MRAP)
The Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (MRAP) is a special permit required to enter the restricted section of the Manaslu region. It is mandatory for foreign trekkers and must be arranged through a registered trekking agency with a licensed guide. The current fee is USD 100 per person for the first 7 days from September to November, then USD 15 per day after that. From December to August, the fee is USD 75 for the first 7 days, then USD 10 per day after that. This permit is essential because the Manaslu region is a controlled trekking area with special entry regulations.
Manaslu Local Government Fee
In addition to the Manaslu trekking permits, trekkers in the Manaslu region must also pay a local government fee of NPR 1,000 per foreigner. This fee is collected by the Chum Nubri Rural Municipality and is separate from the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (MRAP), Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). The local fee helps support trail maintenance, local services, and community development in the Manaslu area.
