Trek to Pikey Peak, the perfect short, easy-grade adventure offering stunning Himalayan panoramas in just 7 days.
Pikey Peak Trek is the ideal choice for those who want a Himalayan experience that fits into a single week without demanding extreme physical effort. Rated as easy grade, this carefully designed 7-day journey opens up sweeping views of Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and the entire eastern Himalayan range from one of Nepal’s most accessible vantage points. The trail winds through serene rhododendron forests, charming Sherpa villages, and high ridges where prayer flags flutter against an endless blue sky. Every step rewards you with a sense of discovery, yet the pace remains comfortable for trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness. This is a trek that proves you don’t need weeks of hard climbing to feel the full majesty of the Himalaya.
What sets Pikey Peak apart is its rare combination of solitude and spectacle. Unlike the busier routes of the Khumbu, this trail offers a private, off-the-beaten-path experience where you can genuinely connect with authentic Sherpa culture and the rhythm of mountain life. The summit itself, at 4,000 meters, is a natural viewpoint that delivers what many longer treks promise: an unmatched sunrise panorama where four of the world’s eight-thousanders—Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse—rise in a dramatic line across the horizon. Designed for time-pressed adventurers, families, and anyone seeking a rewarding Himalayan outing without technical climbing or high-altitude preparation, Pikey Peak is a gem that fits perfectly into a single week.
Your journey begins and ends in Kathmandu, with all transfers and ground transportation handled seamlessly by our team. From the moment you arrive, you are in expert hands. Full-board meals and comfortable tea house accommodation are included throughout the trek, along with necessary permits like the TIMS Card. The pre-dawn start is worth every step. You climb through alpine meadows and juniper scrub as the horizon glows. From Pikey Peak's summit at 4,065 meters, sunrise paints Everest, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse in gold and rose. You have time to absorb the panorama, snap photos, and feel the crisp air before descending.
The return journey takes you down winding ridges and into rhododendron forests, arriving at Junbesi village by late afternoon. This 8–9 hour walking day is your longest, but changing scenery and the sunrise memory keep you moving. A hot meal and comfortable lodge await for your final night on the trail.
Day hike to Thupten Chholing Monastery and return to Junbesi
Today’s walk takes you from Junbesi to Thupten Chholing Monastery, a Tibetan Buddhist site founded by the late Kalu Rinpoche. The trail climbs gently through pine and rhododendron forests, with occasional snow peak views. At the monastery, chanting and prayer wheels invite quiet reflection—time to explore the grounds and observe monks’ daily rituals.
After your visit, retrace your steps through fragrant woodlands and Sherpa settlements. The round trip takes about seven to eight hours at a gentle pace. Stop to photograph terraced hillsides or chat with locals. This day blends cultural immersion with a physical journey, deepening your connection to Buddhist heritage without strenuous effort.

The trail from Kharikhola to Phaplu is about 2-3 hours long. You will be passing through Rhododendron forests and will have stunning views of Everest and the surrounding mountains.
You will spend the night in a teahouse in Phaplu. This is a small village with a few shops and restaurants. You can relax in the evening and enjoy the local culture.
Drive to Kathmandu from Phaplu (8-9 Hours) or Fly Back (25 min)
Your final day begins with a scenic drive from Phaplu back to Kathmandu. The journey takes approximately 8 to 9 hours by shared jeep, winding through terraced hillsides, river valleys, and traditional villages that gradually give way to the bustling outskirts of the capital. This is a chance to watch the Himalayan peaks recede in your rearview mirror, a quiet farewell to the mountains that have accompanied you all week. The road is rugged in places, but the ever-changing landscape keeps the ride engaging, and plenty of short stops allow you to stretch, take photos, and enjoy the last crisp mountain air before descending into warmer altitudes.
For those with limited time or who prefer a quicker return, an optional 25-minute flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu is available. This short hop offers a completely different perspective, lifting you above the same valleys you trekked through and providing a final aerial panorama of the eastern Himalaya. Whether you choose the road or the air, the transition from remote Sherpa country to the lively streets of Kathmandu is a gentle one, leaving you with a full afternoon or evening to rest, reflect on your adventure, and perhaps begin planning your next journey into the hills.

“Madan and team were less than guides and more like family during this trip. The tour itself was tiring at times (for a first time trekker) but beautiful, ever-changing and exciting all the way. Consider me a repeat customer and look forward to the first available opportunity to fly back and enjoy the beauty of Nepal and its caring people.”

Highly recommended for anyone planning a trek in Nepal!
“We had the pleasure of doing the Manaslu Circuit trek with Touch The Himalaya Treks & Expedition and it was one of the best decisions of our trip to Nepal. From the very beginning, the terms of cooperation were clear and transparent. Communication via WhatsApp was fast and smooth, and everything was well organized, allowing us to fully focus on the trekking experience. We also had a porter who supported us throughout the trek, which made a big difference in comfort and allowed us to better enjoy the experience. Special thanks to our guide Roshan — he was professional, calm, and very attentive. At the same time, he was extremely positive and easy to talk to, always engaging with us and explaining what to expect each day of the trek. Thanks to him, we felt comfortable, safe, and well taken care of throughout the entire journey. The agency is reliable, well-organized, and truly cares about its clients. Everything went exactly as planned. ”

Amazing solo trek to Annapurna Base Camp
“Reviewed October 24, 2025 via mobile I’m very happy that I decided to book my ABC-trek with Touch The Himalaya. Mr. Madan was always available to answer any questions that I had and it made me feel very safe traveling alone as a woman. My guide Rishi took good care of me for the nine days we were on the trek, he knew all the best places to stay and to eat. He made my morning at Poon Hill very special by heading up there extra early to enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas before it got too crowded. And we also reached Annapurna Base Camp on the clearest day ever! Even after the trek, both Mr. Madan and Rishi, made sure I was okay in Pokhara by myself and told me to call if I needed anything. Also Mr. Madan made sure my stuff that I left in Kathmandu arrived to my hotel when I got back. I highly recommend booking a trip with Touch The Himalaya! Definitely 10 out of 10! Date of experience: October 2025”
